The Brief

A two-bedroom apartment that holds light instead of holding clutter.

The clients had moved into a compact 2BHK on the upper floor of a Kurla high-rise and quickly realized the existing layout was working against them. The kitchen closed off the daylight, the living room was carrying too much furniture, and the storage they needed wasn't where they needed it.

We opened up the kitchen-living wall, kept a low partition for boundary without breaking the sightline to the balcony, and built every piece of storage into the architecture rather than placing it on top. A floating media console, a slim console-cum-bar near the entrance, ceiling-height wardrobes in the bedrooms.

The palette is restrained — warm white walls, oak cabinetry, brushed brass fixtures, a single feature wall in fluted plaster. The result is a home that feels almost twice its actual square footage, and changes character throughout the day as the light moves around it.
